Bhubaneswar: Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan slams Odisha Government for rejecting Centre’s offer to relax paddy FAQ norms at reduced MSP. Minister Pradhan says state government creating situation for distress sale.
It should be noted that the Centre relaxed the quality norms for procurement of paddy under minimum support price mechanism in 15 districts of the State where the crops were affected due to unseasonal rains. Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan informed the ministry’s decision to relax the FAQ (fair average quality) norms to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Odisha government has raised doubts on the Centre’s decision to relax fair average quality (FAQ) for paddy. At a time when procurement of more than 70% of kharif crops is over, the State has questioned the efficacy of the move.
