On Day III Fani relief distribution touched 71,000 mark in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On the third day of relief distribution for the victims of very severe cyclonic storm Fani, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) touched more than 71,000 mark taking three days together. The beneficiary families have also started receiving the rice under the special assistance in large numbers from PDS outlets across the city. Each family will get 50 kg rice.
The relief distribution of Rs 2,000 for immediate daily needs and Rs 500 for temporary shelter and procuring polythene sheets to each beneficiary family, is being conducted in all 67 wards across the city with adequate police force. Sources said the civic body has geared up to execute the huge task as more than Rs 26 crore will be distributed through the city-wide process to help the needy in distress.
The assistance will be distributed to 1,04,814 families coming under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and State Food Security Scheme (SFSS). An eligible beneficiary has to produce the ration card to avail the relief.
MORE THAN 1,000 COMPLAINTS RECEIVED BY BMC
Meanwhile, the multi-agency control room at BMC by 8.00 pm today received 1,000 complaints. While all the agencies deployed 550 vehicles across the city for the cleaning and transporting work of the debris, the lifting of green garbage has become intensified.
While 29 teams of Works Department are working across the city, Fire Services has deployed 72 teams and NDRF 14 teams to make the city clean. Odisha Fire Service has deployed 475 people including its officials.
Indian Navy on May 7 and May 9 distributed 9,000 litres of drinking water and dry food packets like biscuits at various locations across the city. The Gurudwara Singh Sabha on the Janpath also distributed freshly-cooked food as common people are facing problem to get food from small eateries across the city.
ENERGY RESTORATION
In Bhubaneswar 25 no of 33KV feeder, 65 nos of 11KV feeder restored where 55,341 consumers got power supply. In Cuttack 14 no of 33KV feeder, 32 nos of 11KV feeder restored connecting 64,610 consumers got power. In Puri restoration work going on in full swing, supply shall be started from 12th May. To expedite power restoration, around 500 nos of Electrical and ITI & Diploma holders shall be engaged. They will verify household LT line connections and address issues related to service line
