Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain continues to lash in Odisha; situation critical in Ganjam, Gajapati, Balasore as several rivers begin to swell; low lying areas inundated in Twin City Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Many rivers in the state flowing above the danger level. River Rushikulya & Vamsadhara are flowing above the danger level at three places in Ganjam, Gajapati & Rayagada since Thursday 6 pm. Several villages in Ganjam, Gajapti, Rayagada, Puri, Balesore marooned because of flood .
Flood water enters into Baunsalundi, Jamapalli, Gamundi and several areas in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district; water level flowing above danger mark in Bada and Loharakhandi river; Lathipada-Shergad road & bridge on Badagada Jarau River washed away. Water level flowing 6 metre above the danger mark in Jalaka river due to heavy rain, Mahendratanaya river swells up disrupting communication between Andhra Pradesh and Paralakhemundi.
Met department issues thunderstorm and lightning alert for the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Kandhamal, Sundergarh and Deogarh from 7.45 am to 11.45 am today.
