Congress MLA requested Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to intervene and ensure daily flight services from Jharsuguda Airport

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kisore Das on Saturday met Chief Minister Nabeen Patnaik in the latter’s office at Bhubaneswar and discussed about the stopping of flight operation at the Jharsuguda Airport.

In a memorandum, Das requested the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure daily flight services from the airport at the earliest. He informed that the flight operation has been stopped from the day the airport inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 22.

Notably, the Chief Minister was present at the inauguration programme along with many Union Ministers. Inaugurating the airport, the PM had said that flight operation would continue and general public will benefit. He had also declared the airport as a Nuakhai gift for the people of western Odisha.

Based on the request of the CM, Modi had also announced to name the airport after Veer Surendra Sai.

“The people of western Odisha have been disheartened due to failure of regular flight service,” said told the CM.

Notably, Das, along with his supports, had sat on a dharna for two days in front of the airport to press for fulfillment of his demands.

Jharsuguda Lawyers’ Association president Raghumani Patel, Jharsuguda Chamber of Commerce vice-president Hiralal Lokchandani, Jharsuguda Press Club vice-president Mehboob Mahtab, Jharsuguda Senior Citizens Forum president Balagobinda Mishra had accompanied Das.
