Bhubaneswar: Confederation of Indian Industry, Odisha State office organized a seminar on MSME Financing on 25 July 2019 at Bhubaneswar at hotel Mayfair and engage with relevant stakeholders like State Government, Bankers and Alternative Financial Institutions within the state and in and around to make financing more dependable and achievable with ease. CII aims to create measurable EoDB index for MSME,This seminar aimed to provide an assessment of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise sector finance in Odisha and also to understand the structural bottlenecks, factors affecting the performance of the sector. The deliberation highlighted the key characteristics of the MSME sector, and assess the demand for, and the flow of credit into the sector it also evaluated the consequent gap in the financing needs of MSMEs.The seminar explored potential interventions to boost the flow of formal credit to the sector.The outcome of the seminar which was attended by 10 Banks which included both Nationalized, private and 150 MSME participants was to suggest definition of MSME for classification / identification of MSME in the context of present system of investment / turnover based criteria.What are infrastructural gaps / problems affecting the development and growth of the MSME clusters.Suggestions for addressing the structural gaps in capacity building of entrepreneurs.Suggestions for improving the credit rating mechanism for MSMEs.
