Koraput: The Central University of Odisha observed 75th Independence Day at its campus at Sunabeda. Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita, Vice-Chancellor I/c. unfurled the tricolour and inaugurated the plantation programme at the campus. He urged the University community to dedicate themselves to the harmony, peace and prosperity of the nation.
He highlighted some of the important achievements of the nation in the field of science and technology, nuclear energy and space technology, agriculture and higher education including National Education Policy 2020. He said “India has acquired an important place in the world, both in terms of economic growth and technological advancement. As per the records we have a surplus in agricultural production and its shared major contributions to our GDP growth this year”. He also reminded of the price the martyrs have paid for the freedom of the country.
Prof. Palita pointed out some of the important achievements of the Central University of Odisha like better ranking in NIRF, tree plantation for the green campus, campus placement, construction of Academic blocks and Staff Quarters and construction of the internal roads.He said, “University is facing many challenges and hurdles in the path of development. Instead of lagging behind we have to strive hard for its excellence along with providing best education and opportunity for students ”. He urged all stakeholders including all sections of staff and students of CUO have to join hands for development of the University. He thanked the University community for successful management and maintenance of hygienic standards during COVID time.
On this occasion, Prof. Palita inaugurated the plantation drive organised by the Maintenance and Engineering section of the University. Under his leadership, 30 different variety saplings were planted on the University campus. Prof. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar; Prof. P. Durgaprasad, Visiting Professor, Dr PhagunathBhoi, Public Relations Officer; Sh. Sudhakar Patnaik, Officer In charge; Dr. Kapila Khemundu, HoD I/c. Sociology; Dr. Pradosh Kumar Rath, HoD I/c. Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Alok Baral, HoD I/c. Odia, Mr. Samantarai, Security officer and Faculties and staff of the University including security personnel engaged were present. Covid19 protocol was strictly followed during the programme.
