Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Kaniha: NTPC Talcher Kaniha as a part of its CSR initiative had organized a “Cancer awareness programme” on 18th Feb, 2016 for the creating awareness for the chronic disease and better health among the Rural People. The programme was organized at Pabitra Mohan meeting hall ,Kaniha .The meet was participated by 250 people including local people’s representatives. This programme was chaired by Smt Ushabati Garnaik ,Panchayat Samiti Chairman , Kaniha, Shri Mr Bishnu Charan Sahoo ,Vice-chairman, Shri Benudhar Sahoo ,Local Sarpanch, Shri Seshadev Mishra ,BDO,Kaniha, Shri Kishore Chandra Sahoo ,ABDO, Shri Parmeswari Panigrahi, CDPO, Guest Faculty,Dr Chinmaya Pani(Oncologist) and Dr Dillip Ku.Muduli (Surgical Oncologist),CHC In-charge Medical Officer, Kaniha,Dr Subrat Ku Tripathy,CMO-NTPC Hospital-Dr P.K.Pattnaik. Shri B D Sahoo ,Sr.Medicine Specialist, Dr Puspanjali Nayak,Specialist(Gynecology),Dr Poonam Tirkey,Dr Sujata,Dr Cathrin and Dr Jyotshna were also present on this occasion. All speakers emphasized on the need of proactive approach about the disease of Cancer and its preventive measures. World Health Organisation(WHO) has declared “We Can. I Can” as the theme for Cancer Awareness Programme for the year 2016-2018.
