Participating in the virtual Celebration of World Bicycle Day hosted by Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Eco, Experts impress upon to take on cycling as a living style instead of a mere sports. Founded in the month of April this year this theme based club having protection of Environment as its main agenda had taken up Bicycle Day celebration as the first major organisational venture. The programme was witnessed by thousands of viewers across the Globe through Social networking sites.
At the outset of online meeting, the participants observed brief silence in the memory of Renowned educationist Rotarian Dr. Bijay kumar Sahoo. Delivering the Welcome address the Governor of Rotary District Number 3262 Saumya Ranjan Mishra, wanted that utmost priority to be given on the promotion, propagation and popularisation of cycling in order to achieve Economic advancement, health betterment and Environment protection.
Delivering his speech through video Conferencing State’s Sports and Youth Services Minister Tusharkanti Behera drew the attention towards Government’s motto of “sports for Youth and youth for future.” Shri Behera urged upon the young masses in both rural and urban areas to make cycle as their first love for daily transport.
Addressing the livestreaming session as the keynote Speaker, the Transport Commissioner of Government of Odisha Sanjeeb Panda elaborated on the prospects and facets of Cycling not only as a competitive Sports but as a medium of lifestyle. Specifying the manifold utilities of cycling Internationally acclaimed cyclist Minati Mohapatra appealed to the younger generations to develop love and passion for Bicycle.
Director of Ambedkar Foundation Dr. Debendra Majhi stressed on the need to change the social mindset of the people and arouse respect towards cyclists. Cycle enthusiast Naba Kishore Parida expressed serious concern over the unsafe cycling on National and state highways. Founder of Konark Cyclothon Sudhir Dash gave a clarion call for going carbon free establishments and institutions.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman of World Odisha Society Kishore Dwibedi has advised to include cycling in the daily routine of human life.
Addressing the Web gathering Guest of Honour and Chairman of Mo College initiative of Government of Odisha Akash Das Nayak emphasised that the Cycling must be given highest priority to ensure the evolution of a pollution free cosmos.
Presiding over the Webinar the President of Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Eco and main Organiser Ram Krishna Dash highlighted the practical requirement and pragmatic indispensability of Cycling during the current Covid Pandemic period.
The Celebration ended with a scintillating and soul soothing Bhajan recited by Pushpanjali Barik from New Delhi. The Director of Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Eco Tushar kanti Sahu, co –ordinated and conducted the proceedings in the Digital platform in a nice and lucid manner.
