Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has geared up to distribute the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance for victims of very severe cyclonic storm FANI, which hit the city with a wind speed of more than 200 km per hour on May 3.
The civic body started the pilot distribution in five wards of the city out of 67 today this afternoon. The pilot wards are 15, 22, 23, 24 and 49. From tomorrow the distribution will start in all wards across the city.
The assistance will be distributed to 1,02,296 beneficiaries coming under National Food Security Act (NFSA). According to sources, the beneficiaries will get Rs 2,000 as distress assistance and Rs 500 tor purchase polythene sheets. The eligible beneficiary will have to produce the ration cards to avail the relief and the respective ward officers will be monitoring the activity under the supervision of sector officers of the city as it has been divided into 13 sectors for smooth conduct of the relief and rehabilitation operations in the city following the aftermath of the huge natural calamity.
It can be mentioned here that under the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance for victims of very severe cyclonic storm FANI, apart from the financial assistance of Rs 2,500 (distress assistance + polythene) 50 kg of rice will also be given to the NFSA beneficiaries, each.
