Bhubaneswar Hosts First Ever Quality Circle Federation of India Convention

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen enterprise-wide quality culture across leading companies in both public & private sector in the region, Quality Circle Federation of India (QCFI), Bhubaneswar Chapter – in collaboration with Bhilai Chapter – organized its first ever Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC–2019) on 8th September 2018 at Trident Academy of Technology, Bhubaneswar. The theme of the event was ‘Quality Concepts for Cultural Breakthrough’.

The mega event, sponsored by Odisha Mining Corporation, witnessed as many as 72 QC teams with 372 participants representing 13 leading industries who showcased their creative efforts to build a total Quality Culture.

‘Agrasar’team of Bhilai Steel Plant and ‘Quick Kadam’team of BALCO were adjudged as the best of Convention and second best of Conventions respectively whereas 56 teams won God, 13 teams won Silver and 03 teams won Bronze in the event.

Chairman of QCFI Bhubaneswar Chapter Shri SS Mohanty–Vice-Chairman & MD, NINL and Vice-Chairman Dr. Santanu Rath–Director (Personnel), OMC, highlighted the importance of inculcating quality orientation& institutionalizing total quality culture to improve competitiveness to pave way for business excellence in a rapidly changing business landscape. Shri GP Singh–Director, QCFI, Bhilai Chapter and Shri DK Srivastav–ED, QCFI, Head Quarters also pointed out importance of quality concepts.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri SB Upadhyay–Resident Director, JSL; Dr. R N Satpathy, ED (Trident Group of Institutions); Shri Manoj Kumar–Director, Visa Steel; Shri Ranjit Chugh–COO, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd; Shri AK Singh–VP, JSL.

Teams winning Gold and Silver will participate in the 33rd edition of the National Conventions on Quality Concepts in Varanasi in December 2019.
