Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Cycling and Adventure Club in association with Odisha Hotel (a uniquely dining brand for authentic Odia cuisines in a traditional Odia style) has organized a Charity Dinner for recognizing some of the hidden talents of the state, who have made some differences in the Society through their service.
In BCAC, it’s not always about Cycling, rather it’s much more than it. This year’s Charity Dinner was hosted in the honor of Pradeep Seva Trust (a social initiative) and Ironman Soubhagya Kumar Rath.
Pradeep Seva Trust, run by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Prusty, an Auto-Driver by profession since last 4 years. Pradeep is dedicating his time for different types of social activities amidst his hectic schedule and family time. He is collecting unclaimed deadbodies from railway tracks and abandoned places, conduct postmortem and even perform last rights, where the deadbody remains unidentified/ unclaimed. He is doing this job since last ten years without much external support. After forming the Trust, some more volunteers joined him in this noble social cause. Now, Pradeep is still doing his auto-driving job and looking after his family while finding time to serve the unclaimed deadbodies and performing the last rights. Without any recognition and financial support from the Government, Pradeep hasn’t loose hope that someday, his act of social service will receive adequate funds to serve relentlessly. Pradeep Seva Trust is also active in prevention of social injustice, cases of family violence, cleanliness and tree plantation drive.
Ironman Soubhagya Kumar Rath, earned his coveted title at Ironman Hamburg (Germany) during July, 2019. Prior to this Soubhagya has completed two Ironman 70.3 (previously known as Half Ironman) at Ironman Colombo (February 2019) and Ironman Goa (December 2018). With successful completion of Ironman Hamburg, Soubhagya has become the 3rd person from the state to earn this coveted title and the first person to be trained completely in the state to do so. Soubhagya is a member of BCAC and has participated in various adventure activities of the Club.
BCAC felicitated Pradeep and Soubhagya by presenting them honor of recognition, and some cash contribution. Mr. Sanjeeb Panda, IPS and President of BCAC felicitated Pradeep and Soubhagya. Mr. Satyajit Nayak, IPS was also present during this felicitation.
Speaking about this initiative, Secretary of BCAC, Ajay informed, “As a responsible Club, BCAC has always been trying to do various social awakening activities along with its normal adventure activities through, Cycling, Running and Mountaineering. We always try to think out of the box and bring such hidden talents to limelight, who are actually doing noble deeds at the grassroot level. Through this small act of kindness, we try to instigate a habit of social responsibility among our club members and general public as a whole. We also recognize extraordinary sports talents in the state and felicitate them. We try to do something different other than cycling for the community.”
More than 45 BCAC members along with Soubhagya, Pradeep and members of Pradeep Seva Trust joined this Charity Dinner. BCAC would also like to thank Rajiv the owner of Odisha Hotels for his extended support to host the dinner along with BCAC.
