Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the prestigious Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018, scheduled to begin this November, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has planned to spruce up major city parks and streets of Bhubaneswar with sleek and durable steel furniture and signage.
Initiating the process, BDA has today floated a tender requesting proposals from agencies and organizations for fabrication, supply, installation and maintenance of furniture and signage at different parks and road sides in Bhubaneswar. The furniture include 10 seater and 4 seater stainless steel benches, twin hanging stainless steel dustbins, automatic and semi-automatic E-toilets with bio digester and various types of street and park signage such as area infographic, location indicator, directional and information signage etc. The selected agency will also have the responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the furniture for four years.
Keeping in view that the furniture and signage at parks and alongside the roads are always prone to wear and tear for being located outside and exposed to heat, dust and rains, it has been planned to use stainless steel for ensuring long durability.
The tentative list of parks wherein the furniture and signage would be installed include Indira Gandhi Park, Biju Patnaik Park, Madhusudan Das Park, Mahatma Gandhi Park, Buddha Jayanti Park, Kharavela Park, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park and various colony parks in BDA area. Similarly, the road stretches which have been tentatively zeroed in are Janpath, Rajmahal square to AG square, Sachivalay Marg, Biju Pattnaik statue island near Airport square to KIIT square, Airport square to Sishu Bhavan square, Udyan Marg, Raj Bhawan square to Siripur square, Acharya Vihar square to Barmunda bustand, Acharya Vihar – Apollo – Kalinga Hospital square, Ekamra square to Siripur square and Ekamra square to Palashpalli square.
It may be noted that in order to increase green cover and improve landscape design along major roads in the State Capital, BDA had recently floated another tender to undertake extensive landscaping and plantation activities along 40 km major roads and junctions ahead of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018. This will cover various roads and junctions including traffic islands, medians and avenue plantations along with supply and planting of plant material, planter boxes, barricades and dustbins etc. The plantation activity will also include planting of flower beds, grass, lawns, shrubs, hedge rows and trees. Besides, there will be planter boxes and hanging planters along with tree guards and railings.
