Dharamshsala: Meteorological Centre, Shimla (HP) in a Press Release issued today has warned the people of the state for two major wet spells over the state of Himachal Pradesh between 12th to 17th Jan 2020.
It said that Heavy snowfall very likely to occur at isolated to scattered places in the districts of Shimla, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Chamba and upper part of district Mandi, Kangra and Sirmaur on 13 th January . Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hailstorm very likely to occur at isolated places over low and middle hills of the state on 13th Jan 2020.
It said that due to expected heavy rainfall/snowfall, traffic may disrupt in some places over the state with Landslide and uprooting of tree , which is also expected at some places due to heavy rainfall and snowfall during this period.
Meteorological Centre added that a Western Disturbance (WD) as a cyclonic circulation in lower tropospheric level lies over Iran & neighbourhood. Under its influence an induced cyclonic circulation very likely to develop over West Rajasthan & neighbourhood at lower tropospheric levels on 13th January, 2020. System is very likely to move eastward from 11th January onwards.
Another fresh WD in quick succession is likely to affect Western Himalayan region & plains of northwest India during 15th to 17th Jan with its peak intensity of precipitation on 16th January, 2020.
Under the influence of above Western Disturbances and Under the influence of 1st western disturbance, fairly widespread to widespread precipitation is very likely to occur over Himachal Pradesh on 12th and 13th Jan 2020.
Under the influence of 2nd Western Disturbance, Light to moderate rainfall/snowfall very likely occur on 15th and thereafter it will increase and therefore Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall very likely to occur over the state on 16th and 17th Jan 2020.
thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hailstorm at isolated places over low hills of the state is also being predicted on 16th Jan 2020
