Bhubaneswar: A total of 17,588 foreign tourists had visited the State in two months during the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup held in November and December 2018. Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of Congress MLA Kailash Chandra Kulesika on Wednesday.
According to information furnished by Panda, the World Cup was organised from November 27 to December 16, 2018. While 1,483 foreigners visited the State in November, December recorded footfall of 16,105 tourists from abroad.
During Asian Game in July 2017, a total of 9,298 tourists had visited the State, informed the Minister. Foreign tourists mostly visit Puri, Konark, Bhubaneswar, Dhauli, Khandagiri and Udayagiri, Nandankanan, Gopalpur, Paradip, Chilika, Raghurajpur, Pipili, Satyabadi, Ramachandi, Rourkela, Jharsuguda and Angul, he said.
