New Delhi: Announcing its flagship global convention today, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said that while Covid-19 has disrupted economies, industries, businesses, systems and societies worldwide, a robust recovery would need newer systems, policies, partnerships and investments. The Partnership Summit 2020 would be a significant step in placing India at the forefront of changing geopolitical global scenario and the evolving economic, trade and investment dynamics.
“With the Covid-19 still rampant across the world, the global economy is in a flux and trade and investment flows are shifting dramatically, offering new opportunities for India. The Partnership Summit 2020 will host global dialogues on key issues of concern, challenges and risks for the world today to deliberate on partnerships for finding the right solutions. It will position India as a stable and reliable economic partner for the world,” stated Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Railways and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India.
The Partnership Summit 2020, being organized by CII and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India will take place over 15 – 18 December 2020. Coming in conjunction with 125 years of CII, it will be held on a virtual platform.
The Indian ministers include Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Railways, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Chair of The Partnership Summit 2020; Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises; Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs; Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises; Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law and Justice, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology; Dr S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (IC) of Civil Aviation, Housing and Urban Affairs and Minister of State of Commerce & Industry; and Shri Som Parkash, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry.
The 2020 edition of the Partnership Summit is a truly global event, aimed at placing India as a leader amidst the changing geopolitical and economic landscape. It will see a high profile speaker participation including 17 overseas Ministers, from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Finland, Japan, Kenya, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Norway, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, UK, Ukraine and USA.
32 global CEOs and more than 60 heads of institutions, leaders and experts from around the world will take part in the global deliberations. About 6,000 delegates from over 100 countries will also be a part of the Summit.
Showcasing the strengths of Indian industry to offer to the world, the Summit will have a virtual Investment Pavilion including participation by Ministries of the Government of India and States and more than 90 companies and organisations.
Over 40 sessions spread over 4 days would focus on 7 tracks – Geopolitical and strategic developments; economy and finance; international trade; investments; technology; sustainability; and healthcare. These thematic sessions will lay the foundation for a solid, sustainable recovery by addressing the most important factors regarding what India and the world need, to emerge from the aftermath of the pandemic.
