Bhubaneswar: Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Subrata Kumar Acharya, Pro-Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University and overall in-charge of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has been nominated as President of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar by Govt. of India. A gazette notification has been published by Govt. of India to this effect. Dr. Acharya was associated with AIIMS, New Delhi and rendered service for last 40 years. After retiring from AIIMS, New Delhi, he joined as Pro-Chancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University since last two years. He is also in-charge of overall management of KIMS.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS expressed happiness over the nomination of Dr. Acarya as President, AIIMS-BBS and congratulated Dr. Acharya. He also thanked Govt. of India for nominating Dr. Acharya for the assignment. Dr. Subrat Acarya is a renowned Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist of India. The Govt of India honoured him with Padma Shri for his remarkable contribution in the field of medicine. He has many contributions in policy making and people oriented health schemes of Govt of India including ‘Ayushman Bharat’ Yojna. Reacting to the development, Dr. Acharya said, he would remain as Pro-Chancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University and overall in-charge of KIMS, along with the new assignment.
