Bhubaneswar: World Cancer Day has been observed by Salaam Jeevan Trust in a slum based school named Vivekananda Siksha Kendra at Salia Sahi today. Around 200 students have been made sensitized on harmful impacts of tobacco. Sambit Nanda, the Director of Salaam Jeevan Trust gave a vivid analysis on harmful impacts of tobacco and cited different examples of lifestyle that contributes to cancer. Similarly, Md. Imran Ali discussed about pre cancer lessons, reasons of oral, breast and cervical cancer. The students promised not to touch tobacco and will avoid junk food. The founder of the VSK school Ratnakar Mohanty explained the programme as very important because all the students are from the slum only. This type of awareness drive will surely contribute to make a better lifestyle for the students, added Ashique Ali, the Headmaster of the school. At the end, Prabhukrupa Jena gave vote of thanks.
