Under the flagship of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Walkathon commemorating “Saksham 2020” organised at 29 districts across the State Odisha by Oil Industry (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and GAIL)
Bhubaneswar: SAKSHAM is a significant event which is organized from 16th January to 15th February every year jointly by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil Industry under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India and guidelines of PCRA with sole purpose of bringing awareness among the people on need of Oil & Gas conservation and means to do it. During this one month period various activities are carried out in sectors like Transport, Industrial, Agriculture and Household to spread the message on Fuel Conservation.
Government has initiated various steps to promote conservation of petroleum products in the transport, industrial, agricultural and domestic sectors which are conducive to increase fuel efficiency and training program in the transport sector. In connection to Saksham 2020, various activities have been organized so far on the need to conserve petroleum by its judicious use. These activities are for creating awareness like various competitions at school & college level like Essay, Quiz, Drawing, debate etc and household ladies level like Fuel efficient cooking contest and events like Walkathon, Cyclothon, workshop in Engineering College, Showing Audio visual on Fuel conservation at cinema halls, awareness camp and agricultural workshop like Kishan Mela, mega fleet operator etc.
Today’s Walkathon, commemorating Saksham-2020 with the theme of “Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav 2020″ being organized jointly by Oil Industry i.e. IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and GAIL at 29 districts across the State Odisha. These awareness programs can help all generations especially the future generations and how there is enough scope of conservation in the domestic and transportation sector. Students carrying placards that carried a message “Need of Oil and Gas conservation for the future”. The representatives of PSU Oil Companies, their Dealers and LPG distributors attended the function.
