Lanjigarh: Observing Global Handwashing Day, Vedanta Limited, Aluminium & Power Business’s Lanjigarh unit conducted awareness programs for children from various child care centres and schools of the area. Under the theme of ‘Clean
Hands Save Lives’, over 1000 children hailing from interior villages and communities participated in the practical demonstration of handwashing techniques.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Mohan, COO – Vedanta, Lanjigarh unit said, “We aspire to invest in the future of the children of our country so they become healthy and productive citizens. Vedanta is committed to provide the best health services, and supporting the needs of the children and women in areas where we operate as an integral part of all our community initiatives.”
Awareness and sensitization camps were held to draw attention to this simple yet critical activity and its impact on curbing spread of diseases. Soaps were also distributed to the children to kickstart the habit of hygienic practices. Street plays were performed to further emphasise on practising handwashing techniques. The event was very well received by the children and their families alike.
Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh unit is committed to the improvement of health indicators of local communities in Lanjigarh and the surrounding villages. District officials, local leaders, villagers and Vedanta officials were present during the programs.
