Bhubaneswar: SAKSHAM is a significant annual event which is organized jointly by
Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil Industry under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India and guidelines of PCRA with sole purpose of bringing awareness among the people on need of Oil & Gas conservation and
means to do it. During this period various activities are carried out in sectors like Transport, Industrial, Agriculture and Household to spread the message on Fuel Conservation.
During Aug- Oct’2017, PCRA with the support of Oil Industry conducted Essay, Painting & Quiz competitions on the theme of Fuel Conservation in schools across the country where 50.0 lakhs school children were participated in pan-India where 5.0 lakhs in Odisha
itself. The valedictory function of Saksham- सक्षम’18 was conducted at Jaydev bhavan, Bhubaneswar and the function was graced by Shri Umesh Singh General Manager East Coast Railway. In his key note address, he has stressed upon the need to conserve petroleum products which not only saves money, but also the Environment. He
stressed upon need of conservation of oil and gas as our country is not self dependent in case of petroleum products. So, Oil industries along with PCRA should organize such programme in a bigger way for the noble cause to create awareness among all sectors of people about the importance of Oil and Gas conservation.
State Level Co-ordinator, Shri Pritish Bharat, Chief General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited on behalf of Oil IndustryOdisha, welcomed the guests and presented a capsule on programmes conducted during one month commenced from 16th
January’18 to 15th February’18. During one month, the oil industry collectively conducted many mass awareness campaigns like training programme for drivers, awareness campaigns for housewives, quiz, debate and painting competitions among school
children across the state, conservation seminars in industries, auto emission check campaigns, etc. Apart from these awareness programmes, Cycle Rally was organised by Indian Oil on Bicycle Day on 21.01.2018, and a Cyclothon was also organized on 04.02.2018 jointly with PCRA and Oil & Gas Industries to sensitize the masses
about the conservation and efficient use of petroleum products towards achieving twin objectives of better health & environment and securing availability of Oil & Gas for future generations as well.
On this occasion, Shri Debasish Ranasingh Add. Director PCRA along with all the people including school children from various schools who attended the function took pledge to conserve Oil & Gas and propagate the message among other people.
Winners of different competitions were rewarded during the valedictory function. Saileja Mishra, Somesh Kumar Satapathy, Soham Panda, Priyadarshini Bal, Satish Keshari , Sapana Muli and Sahantipriya Tudu were rewarded cash prizes, trophies, tablets and
laptops etc.
Other dignitaries who were on the dias were Shri S. K. Pathak, CGM – GAIL, Odisha, Shri D. Palit, State Head (Retail), BPCL, Shri D. Behura, Chief Regional manager, HPCL.
The vote of thanks was given by Shri S. K Pathak CGM GAIL. Shri Manoj Kumar Sinha, DGM (TS), IndianOil had taken initiative and organized the whole event on behalf of Oil Industry to make the event successful. The Theme of ’18 is “Indhan Sanrakshan Ki Zimmedari, Jan Gan Ki Bhagidari” (ईंधन ंर ण की ज़िम् ेदारी, जन गण की भागीदारी)
