Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada, February 2: Under the banner of Utkal Alumina, a Multispecialty Health Camp was organized at Community Center of Nuagaon. The camp was jointly inaugurated by BDO, Kashipur Mr. Bedabar Pradhan, specialists Dr. Ananta Charan Nayak(Gynic), Dr. M M Purohit(Medicine), Dr. Arun Kumar Tudu(Skin), Utkal dignitaries Mr. Rakesh Mishra, AVP (Admin. CSR & Land), Mr. BRK Padhi, VP MInes, Mr. Siba Sankar Mahapatra, DGM CSR, Sukanta Mahapatra & Binod Pujari.
While inaugurating the health camp BDO, Mr. Bedabar Pradhan praised this noble effort of Utkal Alumina for providing specialists services to the remote villagers. He also expressed his gratefulness to Utkal Alumina for providing health care services to the villagers at their doorsteps through Mobile Health Care Unit in collaboration with Help Age India & urged that this type of Multispecialty Health Camps must be organized on regular basis. Head Mines and Head administration assured to extend all sorts of supports in organizing this type of camps in other places in future.
In total 512 patients from 16 mines periphery villages such as Ratachuan, Naringjodi, Nuagaon, Maikanch, Kanchguma, Andirakanch, Jogiparitunda, Paikakupakhal, Katakhal, etc. received free treatment and medicines from this camp. All the Utkal CSR staff namely Sushanta Kumar Dhal, Abani Kumar Tripathy, Sudhir Kumar Nayak, Nirupama Barik, Laxmidhar Behera, Sanjeeb Kumar, Ranjan Kar, Pitambar Dhinda, Umakanta coordinated to make this camp successful. The villagers applauded this noble efforts of Utkal Alumina as they were not financially sound to get such treatments in big hospitals.
Series of such CSR activities are presently taken up by Utkal Alumina Company apart from contributing more than sixty crores of rupees to the DMF(District Mineral Fund), Rayagada for taking up priority projects like health, drinking water, sanitation, education, communication, etc under PMKKY(Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kalyan Yojana). This kind of health camp complements the health activities taken up by the state govt and furthers the convergence approach of the company.
