Bhubaneswar: The Bhitarkanika National Park, after remaining closed for tourists from January 15 to 23 in view of headcount drive of estuarine crocodiles, opened on Sunday. And on the opening day, it was Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan who paid a site visit.
He spent a night in Bhitarkanika Eco Retreat at Nalitapatia as well. Union Minister was accompanied by State Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev and senior forest officials.
Pradhan shared some pictures of the Bhitarkanika National Park, estuarine crocodiles and spotted deer in his twitter page.Bhitarkanika is going to be a catalyst for the economic and tourism development of the State and the development of the area as a whole, Pradhan told. Steps should be taken by both the State and Central Governments for branding Bhitarkanika for increasing the footfall by alluring the tourists worldwide, added Pradhan. He also worshipped at the Jaydurga temple at Dangalamal panchayat and offered prayer before getting a warm welcome by the locals at Trilochanpur.
