Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urges Odisha Govt to take timely action to resolve border disputes with Andhra Pradesh

Bhubaneswar: The border disputes with Andhra Pradesh and other States at many times are triggering serious problems.

If the Odisha Government doesn’t take timely action, there are chances that the situations might worsen further, said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday.

Pradhan said Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to involve Odisha people in its panchayat polls by crossing the geographical border in Koraput, Ganjam and Gajapati districts are a matter of great concern. “It is our responsibility to safeguard geographical boundaries of our State and connect the brothers and sisters residing in the bordering areas with us,” Pradhan said.

The State Government which has taken legal recourse over the Kotia issue is expected to take the battle to a logical conclusion.

Besides, the local administration should work to strengthen the Government welfare schemes in the border region for all-round development of the local people, he said. Pradhan called upon leaders of all political parties, social organisations and activists in Odisha to work collectively for safeguarding the borders with holistic development of the people residing in the regions.
