Kalinganagar: Tata Steel Kalinganagar has been bestowed the ‘Safest Workplace’ award in ‘large industries’ category. The award was given at the Safety conclave on “Best practices in Industries Safety & Occupational Health” organised by Directorate of Factories and Boilers, Govt. of Odisha in association with North Odisha Chamber of Commerce & Industries on May 23, 2018 at Balasore. Mr Saroj Kanta Behera, an employee of Raw-Material Handling System (RMHS) of Tata Steel Kalinganagar was also awarded as the best Safe worker.
Mr Sushant Singh, Hon’ble Minster of State (Industries) Energy and Labour & ESI, Mr Nityananda Sahu, Member of Legislative Assembly, Basta, Mr Ramesh Chandra Rout, District Collector-cum-District Magistrate, Balasore, Mr H K Das, President of Chamber of Commerce, Balasore, Mr Kamalendu Mohapatra, Director of Factories and Boilers, Dr Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director of Factories & Boilers (Safety), Mr C P Bharatia, Secretary, North Odisha Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr Niranjan Kar, Ex-Director of Factories and Boilers as well as Mr C S Behera, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, Balasore, were present on the occasion.
Nearly 240 delegates from various industries of North Odisha took part in this conclave. The objective was to create awareness amongst industrial workers on accidents happening in industries and the safe practices required to avoid such mishap. On this occasion, Mr Singh appealed the industry houses to adhere highest priority on human safety.
Industries having best practices on Industrial safety and occupational health were awarded. Besides, workers from various industries of North Odisha were also awarded for adopting best practices in industrial safety and occupational health. Presentation on learning from incidents and its communication to the workers as well as best practices were presented by the delegates from various industries of North Odisha.
