New Delhi: Renowned Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, brand ambassador of Tata Sampann which houses wholesome nutritious products like unpolished dals, superior quality spices and low oil-absorb besan, made a world record by preparing 918 kgs of Khichri. The humble dish was prepared live using Tata Sampann unpolished dal and naturally rich spices at the World Food India event in New Delhi.
Indian cuisine is a perfect blend of aromatic flavors and spices, with an underlying philosophy of adding and complimenting what already exists. To ensure the same, the dish was prepared using Tata Sampann ingredients whose inherent goodness is retained from farms to fork with minimal processing. Khichri is a healthy staple that is liked universally across the country. The cooked khichri was not only distributed to the guests present at the event but also to 60,000 disadvantaged kids served by the Akshapatra Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Richa Arora, Chief Operating Officer, Consumer Product Business, Tata Chemicals Ltd. said ““Tata Sampann’s brand philosophy of ‘sarvagun Sampann’ is rooted in the name itself. We believe in providing foods that are nourishing, wholesome and retain their naturally authentic taste. Our products are a testimony to that. Our dals are unpolished & with high protein and spices are rich in natural oils. Tata Sampann’s approach is to bring to consumers, products that are at the intersection of modern science and traditional Indian wisdom. Khichdi is a perfect example of this wisdom. And our partnership with this event at the World Food India 2017 complements our brand ethos & philosophy.”
Expressing his delight, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, said, “Khichri is one of the most commonly consumed food item in India across social strata and has deep traditional as well as cultural roots. It is seen in various avatars in India, like Pongal in the South, Khichri in West Bengal and the standard Dal Khichdi in North India. I’m extremely pleased to be present at today’s global event and creating a world record with Tata Sampann, taking India’s naturally rich food to the world.”
World Food India, a three-day event that started on November 3rd, is the country’s biggest-ever global food expo. It is being organized by the food processing ministry in association with the Confederation of Indian Industries at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Khichri is the ultimate Indian comfort food and represents the country’s diverse culture and traditions.
