Supreme Court to Review Scope of Article 361 on Governors’ Immunity Following Allegations Against West Bengal Governor

The Supreme Court has agreed to examine the scope of Article 361 of the Constitution, which provides governors with blanket immunity from criminal prosecution. This decision follows a plea from a former woman employee of West Bengal’s Raj Bhavan, who has alleged molestation by Governor C. V. Ananda Bose and wrongful confinement by Raj Bhavan officials.
