Bhubaneswar: SPIC MACAY presents ‘YAMINI-2018, a Classical Music over night. In continuance with it’s over forty year’s endeavour of promoting Indian classical Music and Culture amongst youth, SPIC MACAY, has yet again assembled the stalwarts of Indian classical art from in Bhubaneswar. This is a rare opportunity for the general public and particularly, the students of the Smart and ancient city to experience and thoroughly assimilate the finest of our pure classical music. This classical opulence is befittingly put together as five back to back performances by an ensemble of artists beginning in the late evening of 27th and culminating in the ‘Brahma Muhurt’ of 28th October at Institute of Physics Auditorium. Overnight classical concerts are SPIC MACAY standard concepts, adopted from similar traditions of night long performances in the courts of kings and emperors and staging of other devotional renditions like ‘Palaa’, ‘sangh-Kirtan’ and similar performances in regions in and around India. The distinguished artists for the overnight concert on 27th October at Institute of Physics from 7.30pm onwards are-1. Vidwan Vikku Vinayakram, Grammy & Padma Bhushan awardee, will the Ghatam.2. Vidushi Aswhini Bhide Deshpande, Sangeet Natak Academy awardee, will sing Hindustani vocal. 3. Shri Purbayan Chatterjee, recipient of President’s award for best instrumentalist, will play the Sitar. 4. Ustad Sabir Khan, recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, will play Sarangi, a rare instrument.5. Ustad Raja Miyan, conferred with the title of ‘Sur Mani’ will sing Hindustani Vocal of Agra Gharana.
The prelude to this gala event is an interactive session of SPIC macay’s Founder Chair person, Dr. Kiran Seth padmashree with Mr. Subroto Bagchi, co-founder, Mindtree and Chairman, ‘Odisha Skill Development Authority’ to be held today itself, the 26th October at IDCOL Auditorium, near IG Park, Bhubaneswar from 6.30pm onwards where Dr. Seth and Mr. Bakchi will interact from various angels with young volunteers from different educational institutions on the future of Indian Classical music and culture.
