Bhubaneshwar : To celebrate the golden jubilee of the 1971 war victory, the Indian Navy team embarked on an epic motorcycle expedition from November 16th, 2021 to November 28th, 2021. The expedition titled Swarnim Vijay Yatra or Golden Victory Ride is part of the #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav celebrations, an initiative of the Government of India, commemorating 75th year of independence (Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav) and 50th year of 1971 war victory (Swarnim Vijay Varsh).
The expedition was flagged off from INS Chilka and is supported by Royal Enfield who will be providing 10 Royal Enfield Meteor 350s along with service support along the way. The team will cover a total distance of 5075 kms across the east and north east states and will visit schools and colleges en route to encourage and spread awareness among the youth from North Eastern states about the Naval forces. From Chilka the expedition will ride across various locations like Balasore, Dumka, Siliguri, Guwahati, Shillong, Silchar, Imphal, Kohima, back to Guwahati, Bagdogra, Raiganj, Burdwan, and finally end the ride at Balasore.
