Bhubaneswar: Essel Mining and Industries Limited (EMIL) has organized the groundbreaking ceremony of a “ROCK GARDEN” today at the Department of Geology, Utkal University. The foundation stone was laid by Prof (Dr) Asoka Kumar Das, Vice Chancellor, Utkal University and Mr Ashok Kumar Bal, CEO, India Mining Operation, EMIL in a grand ceremony in presence of a large gathering of students, faculties of the university and senior executives of the company. Other dignitaries present on the dais were Dr. D.S. Pattanaik, HoD Geology, Utkal University, Mr. Subrat Kumar Mohapatra(Sr VP HR), Mr. Ashok Kumar Pati (AVP HR-IR-CSR) EMIL.
The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Das while speaking on the occasion thanked EMIL for its contribution for this project of Rock Garden in PG Department of Geology in Utkal University, that would take the Classroom teaching to experiential learning in the field for better understanding and analysis .
The CEO of EMIL , Mr. Bal emphatically described the Aditya Birla Group contribution in the field of Socio-Academic front for the benefit of the society at large and its importance in a Mineral rich state like Odisha.
The Geological Rock Garden is designed to be one of the best Open Geological Laboratory and shall enliven the concept of Geology textbook, to practical approach in field measurement, mapping techniques, and identification of rocks, minerals, ores and fossils. The lab shall not only beautify the ambience but enhance the teaching standards, catering to the needs of Post Graduate and PhD students of the Department. It will also provide a beautiful educative spot for students of the entire University and visitors to the campus. The project will be completed in three months duration.

· Mid Day Meal Project – caters to 24,000 children every day across 278 schools of Keonjhar, from our centralized Mid Day Meal Kitchen `
· Champua Water Project – caters to 10,000 population across Champua Municipality, the state of the art project has potential to address growing needs of potable water at Champua till 2045.
· Aahaar Project – We support Aahaar Project of Government of Odisha across five districts catering to 17,000 people daily.
