Veteran industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata Passes Away At 86

Veteran industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata died at the age of 86 late on Wednesday.  He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital since Monday due to a sudden drop in blood pressure and was in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the demise of Ratan Tata. In a social media post, the President said that with the demise of Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon who blended corporate growth with nation-building and excellence with ethics.

 

President Murmu said that Ratan Tata took forward the great Tata legacy and gave it a more impressive global presence and also inspired seasoned professionals and young students alike. In his condolence message, Vice President said that he is deeply pained by the passing away of Ratan Tata. Mr. Dhankhar said that Tata was a towering figure of Indian industry, whose contributions towards building a self-reliant Bharat will forever be an inspiration to entrepreneurs in India and beyond. The Vice President said Ratan Tata was a man of deep commitment and compassion as ‘the legend’ of the Indian industry who left behind a lasting legacy.

In a social media post, the Prime Minister said that he is deeply pained by Ratan Tata’s passing away. Recalling his interaction with Ratan Tata, Mr. Modi said that his perspective was very enriching. Mr. Modi said Tata had passion towards dreaming big and giving back to society. The Prime Minister said Tata was at the forefront of championing causes like education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare in the country. Mr. Modi said Ratan Tata was a visionary business leader with a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. The Prime Minister said Tata provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses.

In a social media post, Home Minister Amit Shah said Ratan Tata selflessly dedicated his life to the development of the nation. The Home Minister said that whenever he met Tata, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed him. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Ratan Tata will be known for his contribution to the economy. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde admired his strong decision-making and mental strength. He also announced that Tata’s last rites will be performed with full state honours.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that with the demise of Tata, the world has lost an epitome of humanity, generosity, and integrity. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, Besides his invaluable contributions as an industrialist, Tata leaves behind a legacy of benevolence and compassion, driven by his immense love for the country.
