Bhubaneswar: This March-end we are seeing the kind of queues serve as a reminder for a phenomenon that took place about seven months ago – people queuing up outside Jio centres all across India. With just one day to go before Jio Prime membership closes on March 31, people are rushing to become prime members of what is the world’s fastest growing network in terms of data usage as well as customers.
Queues are being seen at Jio Centres across metros such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, as well as other cities and towns such as Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, Purulia in West Bengal, Kota in Rajasthan, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Amritsar in Punjab, Lucknow and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Madurai in TN, Kochi in Kerala, Guwahati and Nagon in Assam etc. Jio’s launch offer, followed by the Jio Happy New Year offer that kicked off on January 1, 2017, have met with a huge pan-India response, as it has emerged the operator of the customer’s choice, with its e nd-to-end all-IP 4G-LTE network and affordable data plans.
It is mark of recognition from the Indian consumer for cheaper data and better services, as well as the doing away with paying for voice calls. The Jio Prime membership is available to Jio user at a one-time yearly charge of Rs.99, which will make them eligible to opt for some of the cheapest data plans ever, starting at a monthly Rs.149, Rs.303, and so on.
Last time we saw such a mad rush was on September 5, 2016 – they day of launch of the Jio Welcome Offer announced by Mr. Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and MD of Reliance Industries Limited, during the company’s AGM speech on September 1, 2016. From that day on to now, Jio has multiplied its customer base many times, touching the 100 million customer mark within just six months, becoming the fastest network in the world to have grown at this pace. Jio has made huge strides in winning the consumer’s confidence with its high data speeds and well-thought-out data plans.
