New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches Atal Bhujal Yojana (ATAL JAL) today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
PM Narendra Modi launches the Atal Bhujal Yojana on the occasion of birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee today. With an outlay of over Rs. 6,000 cr, the scheme aims at sustainable management of ground water resources with community participation in 7 states.
The scheme will promote Panchayat led ground water management & behavioural changes with primary focus on demand side management. Ground water contributes nearly 65% of total irrigated area of the country.
