President Ramnath Kovind conferred Rashtriya Kabir Samman to noted Odia poet Pratibha Satpathy

Bhopal: President Ramnath Kovindconferred Rashtriya Kabir Samman to noted Odia poet Pratibha Satpathy.

In the program, President Kovind awarded Shri Revaprasad Dwivedi (Varanasi), Shri K Shiva Reddy (Hyderabad). They were given Rs three lakh and citation. The president released ‘Madhya Pradesh Main Kabir’ book.

It shoud be noted that Pratibha Satpathy is an eminent poet of Odia literature. She has been recognised as one of the leading poets of the country and has been honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Award. She has been writing poetry in Odia for more than forty years. She is editor of poetry magazine Udbhasa which is published quarterly. Previously she was the editor of the Odia magazine Istahaar for 25 years.

Pratibha has also translated a number of famous English literary works by well-known writers such as Pearl S. Buck into Odia language. Many of her books in Odia have been translated into Hindi by herself. She has won many literary acclaims for her superior writing standard.

peaking on the occasion, the President praised the Government of Madhya Pradesh for instituting the ‘Rashtriya Kabir Samman’. He stated that this honour encourages poets who pursue the philosophical tradition of Saint Kabir. He also congratulated the award winners and appreciated their contributions.

The President said that Sadhguru Kabir was not only a great spiritual leader but also a social reformer.
He fought against social evils that prevailed in society at the time and made efforts to eradicate them. The President said that the path of equality and harmony shown by Saint Kabir remains an inspiration for our society.
