PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates study hall complex for Tribal Children constructed by HPCL

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the building constructed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) for the welfare of tribal students studying in the school run by Ramakrishna Mission at Bhubaneswar. HPCL, the leading oil refining and marketing PSU ,under Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas Government of India, under its Corporate Social Responsibility constructed Study Hall, Hall for Indoor Games & Common Room.

Along with Shri Pradhan, Swami Atmaprabhanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission, Director-HR of HPCL Mr. Pushp Joshi, senior officials of HPCL, other Oil PSUs and Ramakrishna Mission were present at the occasion. Shri Pradhan appreciated the efforts of HPCL in CSR and mentioned that this particular activity will ensure all round development of tribal students from the state. He said that the children from tribal communities of Odisha have lots of potential and they just need more such facilities and opportunities to excel.

Director – HR of HPCL, Shri Joshi expressed that HPCL along with excellence in business strive for development of society. He mentioned that HPCL has always gone beyond the mandates of DPE Guidelines and Companies Act and has spent in six focus areas of CSR that includes Child Care, Education, Health Care, Skill Development, Sports and Environment & Community Development. HPCL has always given high importance to the state of Odisha and has taken a number of initiatives. HPCL has spent towards ensuring free medical facilities in remote villages through mobile medical vans. Two vans at Paradeep, One at Balasore, One at Angul, one at Deogarh, and one at Keonjhar are providing free health care facilities to 112 villages with a well-equipped medical team, free medicines and diagnostic facilities. Along with Oil Industries CPSEs, HPCL is establishing a Skill Development Institute at Bhubaneswar that will ensure employment for the youth of the state. HPCL has also provided Skill Training to drop out youth, from rural areas primarily. We have invested in free computer education for students in Paradip and Ganjam to enable them to proposer under objectives of Digital India. Under Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, HPCL constructed 288 school toilets in Khordha, Kalahandi, Nabrangpur and Koraput. Under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan HPCL has taken efforts to provide safe drinking water in Sundergarh District. School buildings and other facilities were provided by HPCL in rural areas to provide quality education to children. Tailoring training were provided to rural women in Keonjhar to provide them alternative livelihoods.

He said that the current facilities created by HPCL in the school campus run by Ramakrishna Mission includes a Study Hall, Hall for Indoor Games & Common Room wherein students are getting free of cost education. The latest facilities will provide recreation and holistic development opportunities to the children in schools.

Ramakrishna Mission applauded the efforts made by HPCL under its CSR in providing the facilities at school and expressed that this will create long-term effects on the well-being of society and future of the children, as the crucial talent will not go waste in want of infrastructure and facilities. A number of people gathered there also expressed their gratitude to HPCL and Ramakrishna Mission.
