Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police detains Abhijit Iyer Mitra in Delhi in connection to his derogatory remarks on Konark Sun Temple, Puri Srimandir, Legislators and State of Odisha. A team of Odisha police had gone to New Delhi and he was arrested under the Nizamuddin police limits. He will produce before Saket Court.
It should be noted that earlier today Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat approved proposal to constitute a House Committee led-by Leader of Opposition to investigate into the derogatory remarks on Odisha made by journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra.
According to reports, Devi Mishra, KV Singh Deo, Pramila Malick, Arun Sahoo, Sanjay Das Verma have been selected as the members of the committee, who will probe the matter.
The House committee will submit its probe reports on the first day of the next session of Odisha Assembly.
Reportedly, working journalists also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minster Naveen Patnaik, Speaker and Leader of Opposition demanding stringent action against Abhijit Iyer for his derogatory remarks against them.
