Bhubaneswar: For its committed & sustained efforts to ensure safety & employees’ welfare at workplace, South Kaliapani Mines of the Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) received the prestigious National Safety Award from Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu on 16th December 2019 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in presence of Shri Santosh Gangwar, Union Minister of State (Independent Change) for Labour and Employment.
OMC, one of the fastest growing mining companies in India, has been committed to provide a safe workplace to all employees and vendors and continuously work to abide by vision of ‘Zero fatality’ and zero Lost time Injury.
As part of the initiatives to achieve higher safety standards at mines, OMC conducts Tripartite meeting on Safety on a bi-annual basis. This is a unique platform where different stakeholders including workmen inspectors, Safety Committee members, Area Safety Officers, labour contractors, trade/labour union representatives and community representatives come together to deliberate about safety issues.
The Govt. of Odisha-owned corporation has witnessed tremendous growth in the last three years achieving Rs. 4052 crores annual turnover in the last financial year whereas it made turnover of Rs2853 crores in the 2017-18 fiscal. It is pioneer & is well known for its all-round CSR practice & Sustainability. It has been honoured at national level several occasions for its outstanding contribution & leadership role in CSR & Sustainability.
