Odisha: Incessant rains created flood-like situation in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri districts

Bhubaneswar: Incessant rains on Monday threw normal life out of gear and created flood-like situation in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Malkangiri districts on Monday.
In Kalahandi, four villages were inundated due to a large breach at Indravati Left Canal near Ghenuguda village under Jaipatna block. The villagers were marooned due the floodwaters and there are reports of severe damage to the crops. Vehicular communication between Mukhiguda and Jaipatna road was affected.
Five gates at the Mangalpur Barrage were opened in view of the flood like situation. Floodwaters also entered Temera village and flowing on Biripur road in Kalampur block of the district following swelling of Hati River due to heavy rains.
On the otherhand vehicular communication in the affected places was restricted by the district administration disrupting traffic between Nabarangpur and Kalahandi. Heavy rain has also triggered flood like situation in Malkangiri district. Road connectivity between Malkangiri and Balimela was also affected as four feet high water is flowing over the bridge at Tarlakota in MV-37.
The Nabarangpur-Papadahandi bridge in Taragaon, Papadahandi-Maidalpur bridge in Dhanusuli and Papadahandi-Kodinga bridge in Mokiya were submerged under floodwaters in Nabarangpur district.
