Odisha Govt abolishes block grant system for teachers, introduces grant-in-aid

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced abolition of Block Grant system, that has been in effect since 2004. It will be replaced by the new ‘Grant-in-Aid’ system. The landmark decision will immensely benefit teachers & help enhance the quality of education being imparted in the state.
After meeting with the agitating teachers’ body, Naveen said that his government had decided to assist financial support to education institutions in the state by introducing block grant policy since 2004. The government today decided to replace the block grant system with grant-in-aid.
