Bhubaneswar: Odisha Govt abolished Sikhya Sahayak post. This was informed by the Odisha School & Mass Education Minister Badrinarayan Patro after holding discussions with agitating teachers. Teachers to be posted as Junior Teachers & will be on contract for first 3 years.

Agitating Sikhya Sahayaks in Odisha threaten to launch protest against Central government till the demands requiring Centre’s approval are not cleared. It should be noted that Odisha Shikshya Sahayak Association (OSSA) launched an indefinite agitation at Lower PMG here on Monday. As many as 70,000 Sikshya Sahayaks (SS) have also gone on a mass leave from today to press their demands.

The agitators hit the streets under the banner of Odisha Shikhya Sahayak Association (OSSA). The teachers went on a mass leave also to put pressure on the State Government for early fulfillment of their demands.
The demands include an increase of 25 per cent in the pay scale of the Sikhya Sahayaks according to the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, regularisation of the job of Sikhya Sahayaks who have completed six years in service, an increase in the grade pays of permanent teachers from Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,800 and relaxation in transfer rules.
The Odisha Elementary School Teachers’ Association (OESTA) has also joined the stir expressing solidarity with the striking teachers.
