Odisha Government Well Prepared To Combat Possible Covid Third Wave

Odisha Government Is Seeking Centre’s Support For The Vaccines Supplies

Bhubaneswar: FICCI Odisha State Council organized Virtual Roundtable on Odisha Healthcare (Covid19: Vaccination and the Next Wave) on 5th June 2021.

Ms Monica Nayyar Patnaik, Chairperson, FICCI Odisha State Council and MD, Sambad Group delivered the welcome address. “We (FICCI) are also a part of the state government’s task force in vaccination drives and procuring medical oxygen supply,” she said. FICCI is working closely with the state government and doing series of activities and awareness programme.

Mr. Naba Kisore Das, Hon’ble Minister, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha graced the event as the Chief Guest, state that State has efficiently managed the pandemic during the second wave.  He appreciated the commendable works of Doctors, Nurses, Paramedical staffs, Police, District collectors and entire healthcare during the second wave. Odisha’s recovery rate of Covid patient in Odisha is better as compared to other states. The state has robust health infrastructure and stock of essential medicines for the treatment of Covid patients. He said” one can’t predict about the third wave, but state has to be well prepared”. He stated, State is making serious efforts for the procurement of the vaccines from the centre. State government is committed to vaccinate the citizens of the entire state.

Mr. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and stated, that Odisha has prepared the action plan for the third wave with robust healthcare facilities. The state has handled the second wave efficiently as a result there is sharp decline in positive rate, due to the adequate healthcare facilities and essential drugs. He stated the mortality rate of Covid patients in the state is lowest in the country and there is significant fall in covid positivity rate in Odisha during this month.  He stated the state is also highest producer of medical oxygen and has supplied medical oxygen to eighteen recently and saved lives of million people in other states. The state administration may start the unlock process in some districts, that have shown consistent decline in covid positive cases.  He gave importance on three things, wearing masks, following appropriate covid behaviour and vaccination and to keep one’s guard. The state administration is likely to start the unlock process reviewing.

Dr. Siddhant Kar, Managing Director, Kar Clinics and Hospitals Ltd stated, “vaccination is the only alternative to protect us from covid third wave”. He said, the people must continue wearing masks and follow appropriate covid behaviour and as the pandemic will stay for some more years.

Dr. Milan Kumar, Managing Director, 32 Gems of Miles shared various mechanism on pandemic forecasting and shared the success stories of other countries Spain and Portugal in tackling pandemic effectively. He highlighted the importance of technology in real time assessment of forecasting pandemic.

Mr. Sajib Kumar Rout, FICCI Member and Founder President, CV Raman Global University gave the concluding remarks and highlighted the support extended by FICCI members during pandemic to the state administration.
