Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi requesting to give directions to cancel the order of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change on Polavaram project, issued on 10-07-2018 and stop construction until all pending issues are resolved, as the project is reported to be completed by early 2019. He said that if the project is allowed to be completed before the resolution, it will cause permanent injury to the interest of #Odisha. He requested personal attention and intervention on the magnitude of the consequences that the people of Odisha will have to face due to submergence of tribal villages resulting in mass displacement of Tribals, the flooding of fertile agricultural land and submergence of large forest areas.
