Puri: Srimandir Heritage Corridor project unveiled. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dedicates the much-awaited project to the public in the presence of Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb.
The much-awaited Puri ‘Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa’ or Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project in Odisha opened to the public today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the project worth eight hundred crore rupees just before concluding Purna Ahuti of the Maha Yagna.
The 75-metre space encircling the 12th-century Jagannath Temple complex has been built to enhance the visual connection between devotees and the shrine. Official sources said the project, worth over 4 thousand crore rupees, is part of a significant initiative of the state government to transform the pilgrim town into a world heritage city.
Akashvasni Correspondent reports that devotees are happy to see the renovation of the surroundings of the Srimandir, including amenities created, including washrooms and a circumambulatory path. The town is adorned with flowers, lights, and graffiti, creating a breathtaking sight.
The Temple administration has invited around a thousand temples, including prominent Indian temples such as Mata Vaishno Devi, Kamakhya Temple and Shirdi Sai temples, for this inauguration event.
People from the State lighted Diyas, offered prayers and performed puja and kirtans to mark the auspicious occasion.
Official sources said the project, worth over 4 thousand crore rupees, is part of a significant initiative of the state government to transform the pilgrim town into a world heritage city.
The three-day Maha Yagna, which began on Makar Sankranti, also finished with the offering of Purna Ahuti by Puri Gajapati King Dibyasingha Deb this afternoon.
