Odish CM Naveen Pantaik performed groundbreaking for 15 industrial units which would collectively invest Rs 1,807.92 crore

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday performed groundbreaking for 15 industrial units which would collectively invest Rs 1,807.92 crore and create employment opportunities for 8,883 people.

“We are grounding the industrial projects at a fast pace. I am particularly happy to note that the private industrial park policy of my Government has seen good response from the investor community and we have performed groundbreaking of the industrial park at Dhamra, which will promote port-led manufacturing in the State,” said the Chief Minister on the occasion.

He said groundbreaking or inauguration of as many as 64 projects has been done in just one year, which would together create employment opportunities for more than 30,000 youths.

“This has only reaffirmed our position as the number-one State in implementation of live manufacturing investments,” said Patnaik.

Besides groundbreaking, the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by the Chief Minister cleared six mega manufacturing proposals entailing investments of Rs 25,845 crore. These large scale manufacturing units have the potential to create 13,700 jobs across the State. The details of the proposals which received the final nod from CM are provided below.

The approved projects will come up at different places. While the Chiripal Poly Films Ltd will set up a flexible packaging plant at Paradip at an investment of Rs 1,100 crore with employment potential for 700 people, the Hindalco Industries Limited will establish an alumunium flat rolled products unit at Lapanga in Sambalpur district at an investment of Rs 5,500 crore with an employment potential for 550 people.

Similarly, the Nalco would set up a unit at Kamakshyanagar to produce aluminium alloy wheel, aluminium foil, aluminium rolled products and extrusions. The Central PSU would invest Rs 5,522 crore and provide employment to 1,761 persons.

The Vedanta Ltd would expand its almunium smelter in Jharsuguat with an additional investment of Rs 1,240 crore and provide employments to 800 people. Besides, this company would set up a caustic soda and chemical by-product production unit at Dhamra in Bhadrak district at an investment of Rs 6,500 crore with employment potential for 400 people. The Vedanta would also expand its refinery project at Lanjigarh with an additional investment of Rs 6,483 crore and expects to provide employment to 9,494 people.

Groundbreaking was conducted for a cement grinding unit to come up at Khamarnuagaon and Kolathpangi in Cuttack district, an industrial park to come up at Dhamra, a cement plant at Jajpur, a biscuit manufacturing unit at Khurda, a brewing industry at Balarampur in Dhenkanal, plastic unit at Khannagar in Baleswar, an integrated cold chain service unit at Deras, a maize processing unit at Nawarangpur, a shrimpprocessing unit at Deral, three sea food processing units at Deras, garment manufacturing unit in Chhatabar in

Khurda and steel utensil unit at Janla in Khurda, among other projects.
