Odia Samaj Abu Dhabi (OSA) supports repatriation of stranded and distressed Odias

Abu Dhabi: The current situation of COVID-19 pandemic has rekindled love for the motherland Odisha among the expat odia community living in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Since April, 2020 the community has been restless and eager to find ways to support their unlucky poor and needy brothers and sisters who stuck here in UAE and desperately looking for helping hands to support them to return back to their motherland Odisha.

Odia Samaj Abu Dhabi (OSA) has been extending all possible help to its diaspora and needy Odias, such as arranging chartered flights of their own to repatriate the stranded and distressed Odias directly to Odisha who were stuck here in UAE for last 4 months due to job loss, visa expiry and other reasons, supporting people to get repatriated by “Vande Bharat mission” flights, widely disseminating information about the flight, guiding interested people to register themselves for repatriation and helping people to obtain tickets, supporting the families of COVID-19 deceased Odias, supporting the poor and needy Odias for their survival for months till their repatriation, etc.

As we all are aware, the Coronavirus pandemic has led to economic misery and many people have lost their source of livelihood. Such people were in dire need of immediate repatriation and these noble initiatives of flight arrangement by OSA has supported 2000+ Odias so far to go back to their motherland Odisha in last 2 months in 9 flights, said Odia Samaj Abu Dhabi (OSA)’s President Mr. Pradeep Kumar Rath. It gives us immense pleasure and satisfaction to all of us in OSA when we see our sincere and dedicated effort of organising a chartered flight from Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar has become reality. We shall continue with these noble and humanitarian initiatives, he added.

Organising another chartered repatriation flight today, 9th July that too just within a week from the last chartered repatriation flight and again the maiden chartered flight from Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar has really helped the needy Odia people who were badly looking for returning back, said Vice President of OSA Mr. Sidharth Das. It’s a dream turned into reality.

Odia Samaj Abu Dhabi (OSA) being a leading Socio-philanthropic family (Odia Community residing in UAE), has been closely working with Hon’ble Embassy, coordinating with various authorities, Odisha state government and supporting needy Odias for their smooth repatriation to Odisha and this time facilitated repatriation of 171 stranded Odias in today’s flight.

On behalf of the Samaj, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Rath expressed thanks and deep sense of gratitude to all the concerned authorities for according approval within the shortest possible time of 3 days and especially to the state government for giving approval just within 2 hours, INDIGO team and Embassy officials who all supported heavily for ensuring safe return of its people. He also appreciated the support of all members and families for their contribution to this noble cause and thanks to OSA volunteers especially Dillip Nayak, Sidharth Das, Ganesh Dalei, Kamal Panda and others for their tireless efforts and hard work to just see a glimpse of smile on the faces of needy Odias. The OSA team has been receiving adulation and appreciation from one and all for their herculean effort of carrying out the ongoing repatriation work on such a mass scale and some case supporting people using their own funds and savings.
