Odia Rapper Big Deal releases “Odia Mo Bhasa” ahead of Utkala Dibasa

Bhubaneswar: (Avilash Panigrahi): There is some good news for the fans of the acclaimed rapper Big Deal aka Samir Rishu Mohanty. The Odia rapper has released a new song ahead of the Utkala Dibasa.

Born to an Indian Father & Japnees Mother, the rapper became a household name after his song ‘Mu Heli Odia’. It was one of the popular track among Odia youth. While all his songs have been getting millions of views on youtube, this time too the singer’s fans have similar expectations.

In this video, he describes the sweetness and significance of Odia language. He beautifully portrays the importance of his mother tongue. The song was written, composed, performed, mixed, mastered by the Indo-Japanese singer himself as he does for all his other songs. The video was shot over a period of 1 week in places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Konark, Puri by experienced filmmakers Bishmen and Debadutta.

Talking about his video he says, ”During these tough times as people are at home for the lockdown, I hope this song brightens people’s moods and increases their happiness. I believe we all have a responsibility as musicians to do
this”.

He asserts ”We shot this video right after my dad passed away and I completed his final duties. There are a lot of emotions
attached to this song, and I wanted to dedicate this to our beautiful language, Odia for the occasion of “Utkala Dibasa”. Off
late, I’ve come across a trend in Odisha where the youth prefer speaking in a language like Hindi or English over Odia. This
is my attempt to show them the beauty of our own mother tongue and requests them to use it with pride. We all need to be
proud of our mother tongue and the place where we’re from”.
