NTPC units of Odisha scales up its efforts to fight the Covid 19 pandemic in association with District Administration

Bhubaneswar: In pursuance to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, NTPC units of Orissa has come forward to extend help to Govt. of Orissa. GOO has made it mandatory for everyone to wear mask, if going out of their homes. In this connection, NTPC-Darlipali has come forward to support the Sundargarh & Jharsuguda District Administration by providing large number of face/nose masks for distribution among the public.
Over 50,000 (Fifty thousand) nose masks were handed to Shri Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, I.A.S., Collector & DM, Sundargarh by Shri KS Sundaram, GM(O&M) and Shri Wilson Abraham, AGM(HR), NTPC-Darlipali and another lot of 50,000 (Fifty thousand) nose masks were handed over to Shri Saroj Kumar Samal, Collector & DM, Jharsuguda and Smt. Alomani Sethi, Dy. Collector, Jharsuguda by Shri Kameshwar Jha, GM(Project) and Shri Wilson Abraham, AGM(HR), NTPC-Darlipali, for distribution among the public of Sundargarh and Jharsuguda District respectively.
NTPC units at Angul dist ie Kaniha and talcher thermal are also extending similar help to local administration. Till now 1.34 lac mask have already been distributed by units of NTPC in Orissa. These masks are made locally by Self Sustaining Groups (SSG) costing app Rs 17 each, thus providing a means of livelihood in these troubled times for the people engaged in such SSGs.

All the NTPC units have distributed the full wages to all the contract workers (app4000) even kept idle. These contract workers were also given food grains during the period along with other under privileged people of nearby locality of the plant.

Approx Rice (56000 Kg), Pulses (12000 Kg), Potatoes (16000 Kg) Salt (8500 Kg) Soap (7200 Nos) etc have been distributed among such people . Besides, NTPC is helping in disinfecting adjacent village by spraying bleaching powder solution. over 6000 Kg of bleaching powder have been used/distributed for sanitizing the local vicinity areas.

Earlier NTPC had already handed over 3 floor of Sundergarh medical college building to district authority to function as 200 beded covid hospital the same was inaugurated by CM Orissa on 20 April 2020 . NTPC will be investing Rs 450 Crore in making this hospital as state of the art.

Covid hospital at Bhadrak has already become functional wherein NTPC is extending financial support worth Rs1.05 crore.

District and state administration have appreciated the efforts and prompt response of NTPC in their fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
