Bhubaneswar: The Goods and Services Tax or GST rollout is scheduled from 1st July, 2017. Flurry of activities are going on in industries across Odisha for adopting the new regime of Indirect Tax with GST subsuming multiple taxes like CENVAT, SVAT, Service Tax, etc. Seamless implementation of GST is sine qua non for success of GST and its benefit accruing to the industries. While several steps are being taken by Govt., Central PSUs are also taking initiatives in its implementation in Odisha. Taking the lead, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has already conducted several outreach programmes within the organization for stake holders to get acquainted with requirement of the new GST regime. The aluminium major has engaged Deloitte to validate the implementation protocol in ERP platform in the organization. The Company has also made a presentation on its seamless operation in Ministry of Mines to acquaint other PSUs under the Ministry on GST implementation.
Apart from this, NALCO is partnering with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Odisha to organize outreach programmes for industries and other stake holders on implementation of GST. Series of interaction programmes are being planned and issues if any will be flagged off before the appropriate authorities for clarifications. NALCO has also opened a facilitation cell at its headquarters headed by General Manager (Finance) with Tel. No.0674 – 2301085 to guide the stake holders. Similar arrangements have also been made at two complexes i.e., at Smelter & Power Complex, Angul and Mines & Refinery Complex, Damanjodi. NALCO has appealed to all customers and suppliers to comply with the GST regulations including registration.
