Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) celebrated Utkal Divas with cultural fervor at company headquarters in Sambalpur Odisha.
The programme began with floral tributes to “bardputra” (sons of the soil) by the chief guest Mr Mr Munawar Khursheed, IRPF, Chief Vigilance Officer, chief speaker on the occasion Mr Haraprasad Das, an eminent Odia writer and retired Dy CAG, along with Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical) and Mr KR Vasudevan, Director (Finance).
This was followed by the recitation of “Vande Utkal Janani …” by the members of Anand Vihar Club of MCL HQs followed by Coal India song.
In his welcome address, Mr Khursheed expressed his gratitude towards local deity Maa Samleshwari and Lord Jagannath and wished for well being of each member of Team Mahanadi Coalfields. He also welcomed the guest speaker Mr Das, who opened many ancient historical facets of culturally-rich state which he said was “the most tolerant society”.
Officers, staff and their family members participated in the celebrations.
