Kerala Health Minister Shailaja meets Chairman, OSDA, Subroto Bagchi

Bhubaneswar: Minister for Health, Social Justice and Woman & Child Development, Government of Kerala, Smt. K. K. Shailaja Teacher who is on a visit to Odisha met Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), Sri Subroto Bagchi in the OSDA office. Smt. Sailaja T visited Odisha to understand the overall skill scenario of Odisha. She has discussed with Sri. Bagchi regarding the major steps taken by Government of Odisha for creating the skill eco system in the State, since Odisha is one of the best performer states in implementing skill training in the whole country.
She briefed on that Government of Kerala’s emphasis on gender empowerment. So The Dept. of Social Justice Kerala has started Gender Park initiative. It is a platform for bringing together gender policy, research, education and policy. Kerala is prioritising on skill development and entrepreneurship programme for women. In this context, she discussed with Sri Bagchi about the grass-root entrepreneurship programme called Nano-Unicorn. Nano Unicorn is a unique entrepreneurship programme by OSDA where skilled youths having entrepreneurship ideas are provided with a philanthropic capital to start their business.
During the discussion, Smt Shailaja also informed that an “International Women’s Trade Centre” is going to be established at Kerala with the support of UN Women. This will be a gender data hub for whole South Asia.
Sri Bagchi suggested for signing of one Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Govt. of Odisha and Govt. of Kerala for exchange of ideas, knowledge resources and creation of innovative intervention for imparting skill training for the youth of Odisha. He has also given a proposal for employability opportunity for the youth of Odisha, who are undergoing skill training on Pancha Karma techniques at Bengaluru. He also sought the support of the Government of Kerala for the skilled workers from Odisha, who are working in Kerala.
Among others the CEO, Gender Park, Dr. P T Mohammed Sunish was also present in this meeting.
