Angul: JSPL Foundation – The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), observed the World AIDS Day with multiple awareness programmes in and around the JSPL plant. The awareness drive started with tagging of the Red Ribbon to Angul Location Head and Executive Director (i/c) of JSPL Mr. Atul Misra and Executive Director-Maintenance Mr. Suresh Kumar.
On this occasion Mr. Ravi Kant Somani, EVP & Group Head (OHS) attended the district level program as Guest-of-Honour. The programme was organized by District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), NHM and District Administration Angul. Mr. Tapan Kumar Satapathy, ADM-Angul flagged-off an awareness rally in presence of Dr. Trilochan Pradhan, Chief District Medical Officer and other dignitaries. Hundreds of school and college students, NGOs and volunteers participated in the rally that was followed by a Public meeting to raise awareness about the issue and social stigma pertaining to HIV/AIDS and its consequences.
JSPL Foundation in association with OSACS, DAPCU and Utkal Sevak Samaj (The Targeted Intervention Agency for HIV/AIDS appointed by OSACS) also organized an awareness camp Angul Jail, where 400 Jail inmates were sensitised. Similarly, these organisations will conduct a week long awareness drive to spread the message about prevention of HIV/AIDS in its periphery villages, covering general public, transporters and workers of the plant.
As a responsible corporate, JSPL has been undertaking various activities in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS in collaboration and support of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS) and DAPCU.
